Sharp Sparrow

Terms of Service

Effective September 5, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Holland Lane LLC ("we," "us"), the maker of Sharp Sparrow. By creating an account or using the Sharp Sparrow app or website, you agree to them. We've written them to be readable, but they are a real contract — the plain wording doesn't make them less binding.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old to use Sharp Sparrow, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live (or have a parent or guardian's permission). You're responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure.

Your license to use Sharp Sparrow

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app and website to play mahjong and use the features we offer. Sharp Sparrow, its name, logo, artwork, tile designs, lessons, and software belong to Holland Lane LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, sell, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or extract the source of any part of the service except where the law says we can't stop you.

An independent game

Sharp Sparrow is an independent product for playing American Mahjong. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, licensed by, or endorsed by any mahjong league, organization, or card publisher, and no claim is made to any third party's trademarks.

Fair play and conduct

Sharp Sparrow is a game between real people, most of them friends. Don't cheat — no automating play, exploiting bugs, tampering with the client or network traffic, or gaining information the rules don't give you. Don't harass other players, impersonate anyone, use an offensive display name, or use the service for anything unlawful. Don't probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without written permission.

Your content

Some things in Sharp Sparrow come from you, like your display name. You keep ownership of what's yours; you give us the limited license we need to operate the service (for example, showing your display name to your tablemates). You're responsible for what you submit.

Virtual items

Tile sets, mats, and other cosmetic items — whether free or, in the future, purchased — are part of the service, not property. They have no cash value, can't be transferred or redeemed, and may change. If we ever retire an item you paid for, we'll do right by you within the app.

Changes, betas, and availability

Sharp Sparrow is actively developed and parts of it (including TestFlight builds) are pre-release. Features may change, be added, or be removed, and the service may occasionally be unavailable. We may update these terms; if we make a meaningful change we'll update the date above and note it in the app, and your continued use is acceptance of the change.

Ending the relationship

You can stop using Sharp Sparrow any time, and you can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, harm other players, or harm the service — we'll be as fair about it as the situation allows. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (like ownership, disclaimers, and dispute resolution) do.

Disclaimers

Sharp Sparrow is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular game state will be preserved. Some places don't allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Holland Lane LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or lost goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Some places don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you.

If we have a dispute

Talk to us first — most problems are fixable at support@sharpsparrow.com, and we both agree to try in good faith for 30 days before formal steps. If that fails, you and Holland Lane LLC agree to resolve disputes by binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, and each of us waives the right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action. Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing us within 30 days of first accepting these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
